Comfort for Days
A bike like the Road King® Special is meant for the open road thanks to its large, powerful engine, sturdy frame, and most of all, its components that are specifically designed for long-riding comfort. Here, the low-profile seat makes never feels hard or lumpy, and since it’s slightly closer to the ground, it makes planting your feet on sturdy ground after miles of riding that much easier. The mini-ape handlebars are set at a particular height and angle that helps improve rider posture and reduce fatigue. The suspension is fully adjustable without tools, so finding the perfect balance of performance and comfort takes only the turn of a knob. Finally, the counterbalanced, rubber-mounted engine gives off minimal vibration.
Milwaukee-Eight Engine™: More Power
When the Harley-Davidson® engineers went back to the drawing board with the Road King® Special, one of the biggest changes they implemented was adding the brand-new Milwaukee-Eight™ engine. This engine has unbelievable power, with 107 cubic inches of cylinder displacement, a new exhaust, and engine heads that feature an eight-valve design. Since the engine develops about 10% more power than its predecessor, the designers coupled it with a 6-Speed Cruise Drive® Transmission for ultimate control. Shifting is effortless, always fast and smooth.
With that much power, this bike needed some serious handling and braking to keep things under control. The suspension system is based around Showa® Dual Bending valve technology and features huge front forks and a rear emulsion shock. The brakes come from Brembo® and are Reflex™ linked for super responsiveness.
Reimagined Design, Major Attitude
This bike will turn heads when you ride it, but it will draw jealous onlookers when it’s parked, too. The bike comes in four eye-popping colors, including Olive Gold, Vivid Black, Charcoal Denim, and Hot Rod Red Flake Hard Candy Custom. Designers kept the best elements of the Road King® frame, but stripped away anything unnecessary, giving the bike a spartan look and sinister appeal. Many components including the engine, transmission, and suspension are totally blacked out, and the turbine style wheels look like they’re meant to tear through blacktop. Fuel tank-mounted gauges show the fuel level and speed, while in front, a seven-inch Daymaker Projector LED headlight gives off 986 lumens of bright, clean light.
