The History
Harley-Davidson® created the organization in 1983 in an effort to help create stronger relationships between the company and its fan base. The company saw that there were thousands of fans scattered across the country who could benefit from getting connected and building community together. It also wanted to provide more support to its customers with a range of resources. The Harley® Owners Group accomplished both goals with ease! Once it was launched, the organization saw great success and new members were added every year. Now it's a massive group with fans all across the country!
The Benefits of Joining
When you become a member, you gain valuable resources to boost your motorcycle lifestyle. First, you'll enjoy the standard Roadside Assistance package. This will cover one motorcycle for one emergency. Think of it as a safety net to help cover your back in the event of a situation on the road. Of course, many riders find this assistance helpful and choose one of the many affordable upgrade options.
Another benefit of joining is access to a range of events. These are a great way to meet fellow riding enthusiasts and maybe even get some new riding buddies out of it. For Harley® owners in San Diego, you'll likely want to join North County H.O.G. This group is very active with multiple events occurring each month (and sometimes even multiple events a week!) But the local events are just the start. There are also provincial and national rallies where you can enjoy even bigger events.
Joining a chapter also gives you complimentary admission to the Harley-Davidson® Museum. It covers the highlights of the company's history in a way that's engaging for the whole family. Take pictures with the company's founders, see the old models, see engine demos, and more!
Finally, membership also gets you access to the HOG magazine. It gets published five times a year and covers everything from product showcases to member news. It comes at the best price - free! Along with the magazine you'll also get the H-D touring handbook, which offers roadmaps for Canada and the United States.
Membership Types
You'll be able to choose from a range of membership options to best fit your unique interests. The full membership option comes free with any purchase of a new, unregistered Harley® motorcycle.
Associate memberships are for those associated with an active full member, such as family members or passengers. They'll get a membership card, pin and patch, and access to events and local chapters. To join, the hopeful member will need to be sponsored by a full member.
The lifetime membership option is the most coveted option. It can be granted to full or associate members, giving them the normal benefits as well as a life member patch and pin.
